Is Qiao free?
Yes. The checklist and deadlines, SOS, the “Show in Chinese” cards, the China guide, your cohort and your scholarship chances are free, and the AI helper has a free daily allowance of questions. You pay only for Meet (a person at the airport, paid on the website) and for optional extras in the app, such as Qiao Pass: unlimited AI questions and photos, offline maps, every app icon and up to 3 study plan reviews a month.
How does Qiao estimate my scholarship chances?
It compares your answers (level, field, grades, language test and budget) with the published requirements of university programmes and sorts the universities into strong, possible and hard. It is an estimate, not a guarantee. The test works on this website, without an account.
Does the photo of my admission letter leave my phone?
Yes, once Qiao recognises it as an admission letter or a JW202. Qiao reads it on your phone, and only the recognised text goes to our server, which fills in your university, programme and dates from it and does not keep it. The photo itself is then saved, encrypted, in your Documents; if you joined with an agency's code, the agency sees it like your other documents.
Who can see me in my cohort?
The numbers are public, with no names attached. Your first name and travel details are shown only if you agree to be listed, and only to students who have scanned their admission letter and are listed too. If you are under 18, you see only the numbers and are never listed yourself. Telegram or WeChat is shared only when both of you accept an introduction.
Who meets me at the airport, and can my parents pay?
A student of your university whom Qiao has checked: we verify their student ID and interview them. They meet you in the arrivals hall and confirm it is them with your 4-digit meeting code. Your parents can pay on the website with a link from the app and then follow your arrival on their own page.
